Pryce Studios Newsletter
November 01, 2011 - No. 16

The last newsletter dealt with my road trip to Door County Wisconsin to attend the annual Plein Air Festival sponsored by The Peninsula School of Art in Fish Creek Wisconsin. I cannot say enough great things about the Festival. It has to be the standard for all such events, as the organizers, volunteers and of course, the artists are of the highest quality. I feel privileged to have been a participant for the last three years.
I would also like to give a special thank you to my hosts, Irene and Paul Mayer whose kindness and generosity made me feel like family.

Door County Plein Air Festival 2011

Here are a few vignettes of the festival...
Each day we are given suggested areas in which to paint so that the very supportive public can be there to interact with the artists as we work. Thursday, we were asked to paint in Bailey's Harbor on the East Coast of Door County. It turned out to be one of the hottest days on record, but the wonderful volunteers were there to hand out welcome bottles of cold drinks so that we wouldn't wilt in the blistering heat.

Lunch in Bailey's Harbor with comrades and feature artists, Mark vanderVinne, Shelby Keefe, Mary-Ann Davis and Tom Nachreiner.

The Friday Gala event at the school Art Gallery, with the week's body of work on display and sold through silent auction.

The Saturday Dockside "Quick Paint" shows a capacity crowd and Don Groesser doing a magnificent job of auctioning the paintings at Dockside, Fish Creek. The dedicated organizers, enthusiastic volunteers, talented artists and the incredible support of the public made this year's Door County Plein-Air Festival another resounding success.
Well done everyone!

Until next time, keep those brushes clean and ready to go!

 Best Regards,

 Quote of the week:

"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up."
